Lamborghini Murcielago Rocks Frankfurt! by Alex Michalas Click Here for more photos of the Murcielago. The Lamborghini Murcielago as everybody expected - rocked Frankfurt. While you may check our original Murcielago report for more pics we are going to give you the latest info we have:
The 6.2lt V12 engine has been confirmed to develop 580bhp and
479lb.ft of torque. Lamborghini-sourced performance figures are 3.7 seconds for the sprint to 60mph and 210 mph of top speed. Fears that the Diablo may be the last
100% pure supercar start sounding close to the truth as the Murcielago actually features a traction control system (that's a first for a Lambo of course)! Things are not that bad though, because the traction control
system may be there but the option to switch it off is there as well. We shouldn't worry the Diablo's successor is a worthy one a 100% pure supercar
You want more proof of that? Well the power is there 580 hp. Match this with the
from-another-world handling that the Murcielago posesses and the (still) outrageously, wildly excellent design that shouts "Lamborghini" and you got all you need!
A bit more about the handling should be said: Apart from the active suspension and active 4wd system (an evolution of the 4wd system of the last Diablo) we also get (well we don't really get it
but we wish we did!) active aerodynamics. This means that the rear spoiler (that we talked about last time around) and more spoilers around the car are intelligently deployed only when they are really needed.
Production is expected to reach the 400 cars per year level. Expected price is above $200,000 in the US and around 160,000 pounds in the UK. Best thing? You can place your order now the first bunch of
cars will be delivered in early 2002! Another first for a Lamborghini is the fact that you can actually look outside of the rear window no need
for the rear camera of the Diablo. Why are we saying that? Well we just think it shows that this IS a pure Lambo just a bit more sensible with some details like this (you can actually see out of the rear window WOW!).
What more? Not much well done Lamborghini well done Audi you have produced a real Lamborghini! Click Here You'll go to the FantasyCars.com MessageBoard and see what other people have to say
about the Murcielago and you 'll even be able to have your say on it it's guaranteed fun!
