Chevy's 300 hp Roadster-Pickup! by Alex on April 24, 2000 Chevrolet has recently unveiled plans of
producing what is definetely an interesting project: A 300 hp Roadster-Pickup currently called SSR.
What is this supposed to be? Chevrolet would first of all like it to be a machine
that will be all about driving. A pickup that will not be used for hauling, like the rest of the pickups from the Chevrolet range, but will be capable of pleasing its driver in the most challenging driving conditions. The styling of the concept car, shown in the photos here, takes
many cues from the 50's and 70's and is rumored to be a clear sign of the styling future of the Chevrolet pickup range.
A 300hp 6.0 liter V12 is under the bonnet, good enough to
propel the SSR to 60 mph from standstill in 6.0 seconds flat. We are really looking forward to seeing this concept in
production. It would mean the first time that a truck would actually appeal to people who enjoy driving. Sources say that we should expect to see the SSR hitting the showrooms as early as in 2002, as a year 2003 model.
