Cunningham Unveils Grand Touring Concept. by Alex Michalas The older ones amongst us will certainly remember Briggs Cunningham II who, in the
1950s, was challenging big sports cars names in races like the Le Mans 24 hours with cars he was producing and racing himself. Half a century later and Briggs Cunningham III and
Brian Cunningham, the son and grandson of B.C. II got together with acclaimed auto industry executive Bob Lutz to from Cunningham Motor Company (CMC).
Why are we telling you all this? Well simply
because CMC is to produce one of the finest Grand Touring cars in the world by 2004 - a car that was just shown for the first time in the 2001 Detroit Show. Called the Cunningham C-7 it is powered by a 6.8 litre V12 producing more than 600 hp.
Power will be transferred to all four wheels but with a rear wheel drive bias. Not much more information about the car was available at this time but judging by the photos and the technical specifications, the
C-7 seems to have everything needed to be a true American Grand Touring car, ready to compete with the likes of Ferrari's 456 and Aston Martin's DB7.What do you think about the C-7? Visit our MessageBoard and voice your opinion about it!
