Radical Lotus Extreme Concept Car! Lotus's Extreme concept car has just been unveiled at the Coventry University Design Show.
The outrageously radical Extreme is the work of Ted Mannerfelt, a Coventry University student on work
placement at the prestigious performance sportscar manufacturer Lotus, and he was supported by the Head of Design Russell Carr.
The Extreme seats two passengers in a jet-fighter-style cockpit. It has darkened windows and a striking metallic silver finish. It's an unforgettable sight.
With a total weight in the region of 450 kg, the Extreme would have rocket-like acceleration of 0-60 in just five seconds. The concept's unique suspension system allows the vehicle to lean into bends, motorcycle-style.
The environmentally-con scious team produced the
vehicle using a hybrid engine combining electric and natural gas, giving the car amazing performance whilst meeting stringent pollution targets with ultra-low emissions. A fuel consumption figure of 100mpg is claimed.
As this is probably the most interesting concept we have seen in the last few years, we 'll be reporting on more details as soon as we get them! |
