All-New Nissan Skyline is Coming! by Alex Michalas
It was back in September when we reported on rumored details of the upcoming all-new Nissan Skyline. We are now
presenting you with the first computer generated picture of how the new car will look like as well as with the latest details we have learnt about it.
Codename the R-35, the all-new Skyline could see production
as early as in the end of 2002. The current engine options are said to be a wild twin-turbo 3.0 lt. V6 producing 420 hp for
the Japanese market and a 4.5 lt. V8 producing roughly the same power (420hp) for the international market. One really wonders what has happenned to the gentleman's agreement between Japanese
manufacturers that the power of production cars should be limited to 280hp - but of course we can only be happy that Nissan is set to produce what will probably be the most powerful Japanese production car ever!
We have also heard that Nissan engineers are examining various transmission options including an 8-speed automatic (!!) and a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Looks like the new Skyline could very well be the first production Japanese car to break the 300km/h (188mph) barrier! What do you think of the new Skyline? Click Here to visit our Message Board and talk about it! |
