Amazing New Dutch Supercar! by Alex Michalas Following our report from the Paris Motorshow about
the Koenigsegg CC, a Swedish Supercar that is set to beat the McLaren F1 here comes the Spyker C8 Spyder, a real supercar from Holland!
The idea of the C8 Spyder was conceived back in 1990 from a young Dutch engineer who along with a Dutch entrepreuner decided to resurrect the Spyker brand. Spyker is a Dutch car manufacturer that
produced some really nice cars back in the period between 1900 to 1925!What we have here though is not a piece of history - it is a real wild machine! It is powered by an Audi
all-aluminium 4.2 lt V8 that's good enough for 400hp and 354 lb.ft of torque. The body of the C8
Spyder is made of aluminium and the very sophisticated racing front and rear suspension is fully adjustable. The weight is kept at an amazingly low 1000kg which means that we're talking about some really
serious performance figures of 4.5 seconds for the accelartion to 60mph and a top speed of 186mph (300km/h).
The car's owners will have the privilege to watch their own car being built in the company's
headquarters in Holland. Only 10 will be built in 2001 with a maximum of 25 scheduled for 2002. It really seems that more and more small-volume manufacturers are understanding that this world has
more than enough place for FantasyCars that do not have a badge with a horse on their bonnet. FantasyCars.com is always thrilled to present such new pieces of automotive art from small
manufacturers. And as the official Spyker moto goes: "For the tenacious no road is unpassable". What do you think of this amazing Dutch Supercar? Click here and talk about it in our Messageboard! Click Here for more new cars from the 2000 British Motorshow! |
