The Romanian company, which has refreshed in the past year or so almost its entire model lineup had no important novelties to showcase at the 2015 IAA Frankfurt motor show – save for the introduction of a new automated manual gearbox across its range.

The entry-level brand of the Renault group has steadily built up its reputation across Europe and is now ready to progress – the Sandero and Logan lines have been updated with a new generation and the best-selling Duster SUV received a mild mid-cycle refresh. Now details need to be addressed, such as the lack of an automated gearbox option. That has been resolved now, with the Romanian brand introducing at IAA the Easy-R automated manual gearbox, soon available for the Logan, Logan MCV, Sandero and Sandero Stepway models. Set to be introduced in production before the year’s end, it will be mated to the TCe90 gasoline engine delivering 90 PS (66 kW) and 140 Nm (103 lb-ft), with the official fuel economy figure being of 4.9 liters per 100 km.

The transmission is computer-controlled by electromechanical actuators that relieve the driver from performing that dull process of declutching, changing gear and then re-engaging the clutch. The gearbox comes with two setups, drive and manual – which are pretty self-explanatory. Dacia added that from now on all of its engines will follow the Euro 6 standard and the company is also introducing a start-stop system with braking energy recovery.

Aside from the automated transmission and updated engines, the automaker also introduced the Duster Edition 2016, coming with black diamond-effect 16-inch alloys and a new exterior paint – Altai Green. Inside the model has gained two different trim options – one for the affordable specifications and the other for higher grade.
