The facelifted Citroen C4 Picasso and C4 Grand Picasso were unveiled overnight in France.

Visually, the upgraded people movers sport a revised front-end design that’s now common to both the standard- and long-wheelbase versions.

Up top the chrome bars that spread out from Citroen’s double chevron emblem now stretch out to encircle the LED daytime running lights. There’s also a revised lower air intake, number plate surround and more chrome than before.

Other changes include new 17-inch alloy wheels, 3D effect tail-lights, an updated colour palette, and the availability of a two-tone roof and a silver roof arches for the C4 Picasso.

On the inside, a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is available along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink compatibility. Other new tech features include hands-free tailgate operation, active blind spot monitoring, and an adaptive cruise control system that can bring the car to a compelte stop.

At least in Europe, the revised C4 Picasso and C4 Grand Picasso gains a new drivetrain option, with the 96kW/230Nm 1.2-litre PureTech 130 three-cylinder turbocharged petrol now available in combination with a six-speed automatic and automatic engine stop/start.

The updated C4 Picasso and C4 Grand Picasso are scheduled to go on sale across Europe from June 2016.

Australia

Despite being well received at CarAdvice headquarters, the C4 Picasso and C4 Grand Picasso, just 104 and 254, respectively, of the funky people movers were sold in 2015.

That’s well behind class leaders, the Kia Carnival (3638) and Honda Odyssey (2836), and even the Ssangyong Stavic (360). That said, it did finish ahead of the Peugeot 5008 (39) and Kia Rondo (204).

If Citroen Australia decides to continue offering the C4 Picasso and C4 Grand Picasso down under, expect them to arrive either towards the end of the year or early next.
