Fiat takes the wraps off facelifted Fiorino, packing Euro 6 powertrains

The Italian automaker has introduced the updated Fiorino van in Europe – an updated duly needed by the 2007-introduced third generation commercial vehicle.

Since the release of the third generation Fiorino that was unveiled back in mid 2007 – a full nine years ago – and amassed sales of 370,000 units the Italian van has been updated this year. There aren’t any important design changes bestowed on the exterior of the model and the styling is practically the same as before – the most distinguishable changes from the design standpoint are the refreshed front end with modified bumper and reworked headlights. The cabin is treated to a new steering wheel and gear knob, modified graphics for the instrument cluster and a new five-inch infotainment system which integrates Bluetooth, navigation, and DAB radio. Since we’re talking about a commercial vehicle, the major changes occurred under the metal.

First and foremost now all engines of the Fiorino range in compliance with the tough Euro 6 emission standards. They remain unchanged though: a 1.3-liter MultiJet II diesel unit will come forth with either 80 horsepower (59 kilowatts) or 95 hp (70 kW). There’s also a eco-friendly EcoJet version with fuel-saving technologies (start-stop system, ”smart” alternator, and a variable displacement oil pump), which are here for the first time and deliver an average fuel consumption of 74.3 miles per gallon (3.8 liters per 100 kilometers) with CO2 emissions of 100 grams kilometer. The gasoline option is a 1.4-liter naturally aspirated with 77 hp (57 kW). Fiat will kick orders mid-April and pricing will be announced closer to the actual market introduction.
