The Italian supercar brand is finally treating us to the model that is tasked to celebrate 100 years since company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini was born – the world premiere taking place during the 86th edition of the Geneva Motor Show.

Based off the Aventador, the Centenario features a more restrained appearance than other special editions and has been entirely clad in carbon fiber to tip the scales at a lower setting of 3,351 pounds (1,520 kilograms) for an impressive weight-to-power ratio of 1.97 kg / hp. The stylistic choices are not just for show in this instance, as the aerodynamic specifications have been improved throughout and there’s also a new extending rear wing for extra downforce at high speeds.

The cabin has received its own set of tweaks, with the center stack now packing a large 10.1-inch touchscreen display with support for Apple CarPlay and internet browsing. Drivers will be more interested in the built-in telemetry software which can be very useful while on the track and two cameras can even record all the action. Lamborghini has thought about everything: the front trunk has a special space able to house two helmets.

Handling is enhanced by the rear-wheel steering system that will be most useful when honing the updated naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine now churning out 770 horsepower (566 kilowatts). The Centenario is currently the most powerful product of the Sant’Agata Bolognese house an can handle the usual 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in just 2.8 seconds.

The 0 to 186 mph (300 km/h) sprint will last for 23.5 seconds and the supercar is capable of reaching more than 217 mph (350 km/h). The impressive credentials continue with the braking figures: from 300 km/h the Centenario only needs 290 meters to reach a full stop. Only 40 units will be produced, with half of the bunch being in coupe guise and the rest in roadster style. All of them have already been spoken for though at a cool 1.75 million euros plus tax a pop.
