An updated Hennessey Venom GT with even more power will be unveiled at the 2015 SEMA show, which kicks off tomorrow in Las Vegas. Hennessey has upgraded the Venom GT’s 7.0-litre twin-turbo V8 to accept E85 Flexfuel and in the process increased boost pressure from 19psi to 26psi. These improvements have increased the car’s already impressive output from 928kW to 1082kW, a jump of 154kW. Weight of the stretched and widened Lotus Exige-based car has been kept to 1244 kilograms. According to Hennessey, the updated Venom GT is capable of a 0-60mph (0-97km/h) time of 2.4 seconds, hitting 100mph (161km/h) in 4.4s and racing to 200mph (322km/h) in 12.8s. Other performance numbers include a 0-300km/h time of 10.9s, a 0-400km/h time of 18.1s, and a quarter mile (400m) time of 9.4 seconds at a terminal velocity of 269km/h. A top speed in excess of 450km/h is claimed. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 and a GPS-based traction control system are tasked with keeping this American beast going in its intended direction. John Hennessey, the company’s founder, says that only a “handful” of upgraded Venom GTs will be built in 2016 as the company is “also preparing for our next evolution, the Venom F5″.
