Jaguar has released pricing and specification details for their first SUV model, the F-Pace. Prices for the F-Pace range from $74,340 for the Prestige 20d to $120,415 for the First Edition S 35t variant, while deliveries are set to commence from next month.

Built for handling, refinement, and on-road agility, rather than off-road ability, Jaguar's first foray into the SUV market shows their intent to take on the likes of the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Lexus NX, Porsche Macan, and Volvo XC60. And from what we gather from our first drive, it seems that the F-Pace is right on target.

The F-Pace is available with a choice of three engines from launch. The base 20d variant comes with Jaguar's latest Euro 6 Ingenium diesel engine in the form of a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-4 producing 132kW and 430Nm of torque in the 20d. On board the 30d variants is a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel with 221kW and 700Nm of torque, whereas a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol with power and torque outputs of 250kW/450Nm and 280kW/450Nm feature on the 35t variants.

The F-Pace in its 20d guise can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 8.7 seconds, whilst returning an official combined fuel consumption figure of 5.3L/100km.

Regardless of engine choices, all F-Pace variants will come equipped with Jaguar's torque-on-demand AWD system and an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF.

The F-Pace in its 20d guise can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 8.7 seconds, whilst returning an official combined fuel consumption figure of 5.3L/100km. As for the 30d variants, 0 to 100km/h is achieved in 6.2 seconds with a 6.0L/100km fuel consumption figure. The 35t in 250kW tune on the other hand makes the century sprint in 5.8 seconds, whereas the 280kW version does it in 5.5 seconds, though the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine manages to return 8.9L/100km on the official combined cycle in both guises.

Bookmarking the F-Pace range are five trim levels, from the entry-level Prestige, R-Sport, Portfolio, S, to the limited-to-this-year range-topping First Edition.

All trim levels come equipped with torque vectoring by braking, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, tyre pressure monitoring, All Surface Progress Control traction control, keyless ignition, 8-inch InControl Touch Navigation, 10-way adjustable electric front seats with memory function, 11-speaker 380W Meridian sound system, and a reverse camera.

Only the Prestige and R-Sport trim are available with three engine choices, with the 20d, 30d, and 250kW 35t. In base-trim the Prestige makes do with 19-inch 5-spoke silver alloy rims as standard with Taurus leather standard seats.

As for the R-Sport trim, it comes fitted with R-Sport bodykit, replete with a satin chrome inserts, 19-inch 5-twin spoke grey alloy rims, perforated Taurus leather sports seats with contrast double stitching, and Configurable Dynamics for throttle, steering, and gear shifts.

the First Edition trim is only produced in the model's first year of production, and suitably Jaguar has lavished it with plenty of extras.

The Portfolio trim level, which comes with either the 30d or 250kW 35t engine variants, features 19-inch 7-twin spoke alloy rims, perforated Windsor leather luxury seats with tonal double stitching, embossed front headrests, and interior mood lighting.

The S trim comes loaded with Adaptive Dynamics with Adaptive Surface Response, S body trimmings with satin chrome finishings, sport seats trimmed in Taurus leather with Suedecloth and contrast double stitching, meshed aluminium interior inserts, Suedecloth headlining, satin chrome paddle shifters, and 20-inch 5-spoke grey alloy rims that is complemented by red brake calipers. Only the 30d and 280kW 35t engine variants are available with the S trim.

In commemoration of the launch of the F-Pace, the First Edition trim is only produced in the model's first year of production, and suitably Jaguar has lavished it with plenty of extras. Available only with the 30d and 280kW 35t engine variants, the First Edition comes with 22-inch 15-spoke grey alloy rims, sliding panoramic glass roof, electrically reclining rear seats, illuminated metal tread plates, embossed Windsor leather seats with Tonal double stitching, ‘First Edition' carpets, 12.3-inch HD digital instrument cluster, 10-inch InControl Touch Pro multimedia system with navigation and 60GB storage, as well as configurable interior mood lighting with ten colour options.

As a reference to the C-X17 concept cars, which laid the groundwork for the F-Pace's design and intent, the First Edition trim has an additional two metallic colour options - Caesium Blue and Halcyon Gold - which reflects the concept cars' shades that were shown at the 2013 Frankfurt and Guangzhou motor shows.

However if your budget for an F-Pace is a little generous, Jaguar has a whole range of optional extras to spec the F-Pace with. These extras include Gesture Tailgate ($1,100), adaptive cruise control with queue assist ($3,200), 4-zone Climate Control ($1,800), surround view camera system ($2,050), 360-degree parking aid ($1,210), park assist ($800), lane keeping assist and Driver Condition Monitor ($1,060), blind spot monitor and reverse traffic detection ($1,120), and laser projected heads-up display ($2,150).
