The Kia Optima A1A roadster concept is one of six concepts that the Korean car maker will have on display at the 2015 SEMA show. Based on the latest generation Optima, Kia has removed the sedan’s roof, shortened its windscreen, and added reinforced steel tubes within the body to ensure that rigidity is retained. The company has also converted the car’s doors into frameless window designs, with the rear set rear hinged. The four-door open-top Optima seats four people in pews covered with soft cream-coloured leather. The rear seat now features extended arm rests and a new centre console. Under the bonnet, the Optima A1A features a turbocharged 183kW four-cylinder engine mated to a high-performance exhaust system. The A1A rides on lowered Ksport suspension and shiny 20-inch alloy wheels. Kia will have six officially sanctioned concepts on display at this year’s show in Las Vegas. The company has so far revealed two other concept vehicles, the Forte Koup Mud Bogger and the Sorento Trail Edition. Each vehicle that Kia will have on show this year is said to be inspired by the different car cultures in evidence around the USA. The Optima A1A is said to be named after the A1A highway in Florida. One section of the scenic coastal highway runs between St Augustine and Daytona beaches, while another passes through Cape Canaveral.
