LA Auto Show: Nissan introduces refreshed 2016 Sentra

The second largest Japanese automaker has officially introduced to the worldwide audience during the Los Angeles Auto Show the facelifted 2016 Sentra midsize sedan. The new Maxima has been used as a source of inspiration and the refreshed Sentra follows its larger sister with an updated front end that includes the V-Motion and packs boomerang-shaped headlights. A revised bonnet, as well as new front fenders are also present and customers will get to choose from a crop of restyled 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels. The back is more restrained but the modifications include a revised bumper and mirroring boomerang-shaped taillights. Customers that believe in sportiness should relate better to the Sentra SR that adds extensions to the side skirts, as well as unique 17-inch alloys and a rear spoiler, besides the fog lights and chrome finish for the exhaust termination. Inside the cabin the buyers will be treated to a new center stack, a refreshed gearbox lever and a steering wheel taking cues from the 370Z. The base Sentra comes with a four-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system, but go for better equipped trim versions and you’ll be upgraded to a six-speaker audio system mated to an infotainment system with a five-inch display. The top of the line Sentra SL comes with a 5.8-inch screen, navigation and NissanConnect Apps – which include iHeartRadio, Pandora, Facebook, Twitter and TripAdvisor. Safety technologies are also a must: Forward Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Pricing starts from $16,780 when the 2016 Sentra reaches dealer lots later this year and under the hood you’ll find an older than life 1.8-liter four-cylinder packing just 130 bhp (97 kW) and 128 lb-ft (173 Nm) of torque – mated either to the regular six-speed manual or an Xtronic continuously variable transmission.
