Latin America to receive facelifted C3 Aircross from Citroen

The Citroen subsidiary from Brazil, the largest economy and biggest auto market of the South American continent, has announced the premiere of the updated C3 Aircross, a model specifically tailored to cater to Latin American markets. The C3 Aircross has been offered on the continent since 2010 so it was high time for a refresh and the model takes the standard C3 Picasso and morphs it into a regular crossover thanks to added plastic body cladding to endure rough experiences. Now the modifications have catered to the desire to align the small crossover to the current, funky, design strategy of the French brand. Highlights include the added LED daytime running lights, modified bumpers, refreshed lighting clusters, all complete with new and enhanced front & rear underbody protection. Citroën Brazil was in charge of all the styling updates and will also manufacture locally the updated C3 Aircross at the company’s plant in Porto Real. So far no interior shots were disclosed but the automaker said the new infotainment system with MirrorLink functionality and parking camera is supported by a traditional seven inch display. Technical specifications have not been disclosed as well, but that actually gives us an answer – most likely the current 1.6-liter VTi goes on unchanged and retains its capability to run on E85 ethanol flex fuel. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and power is sent to the front wheels only as the AWD system is not available. Latin American markets should receive the updated model in short notice and the brand expects it to continue its successful sales run – 110,000 units have already been sold since it started production half a decade ago.
