The Japanese automaker has decided the LA Auto Show is the perfect venue to unveil the all new 2017 CX-9 large crossover, two months after being previewed by the Koeru concept. The Japanese automaker will release the important model for the US market during the LA Auto Show taking place this month and the company has already delivered a first teaser of the actual production vehicle – expected to largely carry over the design language showcased through the Koeru concept. “Fully incorporating the latest SKYACTIV technologies and KODO—Soul of Motion design, the all-new CX-9 is a high-end model of Mazda’s new-generation lineup,” commented the maker in a statement. “The all-new CX-9 builds on the feeling of life imbued by KODO and moves toward a more premium design execution that befits a three-row midsize crossover SUV,” Mazda added. Set to be officially introduced to the worldwide audience on November 18, we already know the 2017 CX-9 will fall in line with the brand’s current design language – which has touched the entire lineup from the tiny Mazda2 to the iconic MX-5 Miata. Judging from the Koeru concept we can derive the CX-9 to have a massive and sculpted grille and a fluid exterior design altogether. The interior is also expected to be a revolution compared to the outgoing generation, as Mazda feels the heat from the luxury brands now going down and mostly hitting the sales of the more upscale Japanese marquees. Besides the Skyactiv engines and powertrain, we also expect Mazda to come up with a range of active and passive safety features and we truly hope the infotainment system also receive a much needed upgrade.
