The British supercar maker revealed its six-year investment programme, planning to launch 15 new models by the end of 2022.

McLaren Automotive ended 2015 with a total of 1,654 cars delivered, marking another record, as it has done every year since the company began production in 2010. The British have set themselves big targets for the future, planning to increase production to 4,000 cars annually as early as 2017. Therefore, six successful years have passed, and now the company is looking forward to the next six ones, as it has announced details of its Track22 Business Plan – taking it through to 2022.

At the heart of strategy, McLaren said it would stay committed to its 20-25 percent of turnover invested in research and development for future models and technologies. Over the six-year business plan period, this represents an investment of £1 billion (1.4 billion dollars) that will eventually lead to the launch of 15 new cars or derivatives. Following the strong feedback of the 675LT Coupe and Spider version, which sold out in a matter of weeks, McLaren has also announced that ‘LT’ will become a track-focused sub-brand with further models in the future.

The global success of the petrol-electric hybrid-powered McLaren P1TM made the brand to confirm that at least 50 percent of its cars will feature hybrid technology by 2022. McLaren also said that the research engineers at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England, were in the early prototype stages of the development of a fully-electric powertrain to evaluate its possible use in a future generation of an Ultimate Series car.
