The Opel Astra TCR is the fastest, most powerful and most expensive version of the Astra ever produced. The new addition to the Opel Astra range doesn’t really have that much in common with the regular version of the compact car because it has been created to compete in the Touring Car Racing (TCR) Series and it has been called, obviously, the Opel Astra TCR. The model is a track-only car and it has been developed with Kissling Motorsport, being based on the newest generation of the five-door hatchback. The new Opel Astra TCR is bringing an updated body kit, with the new front bumper with the integrated apron, the different rear bumper, diffuser, the widened front and rear wings, new extended side skirts and that massive rear wing. Add the decals to the equation, along with the racing wheels with their 10-spoke design, and you have made a racer. Opel also says that the 378mm disc brakes with 6-piston calipers at the front and 265mm discs with two-piston calipers at the rear can also be found on the vehicle, along with a 100-liter fuel safety tank. The Opel Astra TCR is weighing in just 1,200 kg (2,645 lbs) and it’s lacking the ABS, EBD and other electronic systems. Under its hood, a 2.0l turbocharged gasoline burner is found, producing 330 HP (243 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. Power is being sent to the front-wheel drive through a 6-speed transmission. No images or details with the interior have been announced so far. The model will go on sale from 95,000 EUR, plus VAT, and deliveries will begin in February, 2016.
