The first right-hand-drive Porsche models built in 1951 will be on show together at the Porsche Rennsport Australia Motor Racing Festival at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.

The early ‘split-screen’ 356 models – a Maroon Coupe (Chassis No. 10770) and a Fish Silver Grey Cabriolet (Chassis No. 10110) were also the first two Porsches to arrive in Australia almost 65 years ago.

Many vehicles from private collections, including this pair will be showcased as part of Porschestrasse at Rennsport, but the celebration of all things Porsche also includes an exciting program of historic and modern sports car racing, static displays, a show ‘n’ shine area, a kid’s zone and more.

On track the action includes championship rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia and Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia presented by Pirelli, plus Porsche sports car, Group S and N races, Regularity Trials and demonstrations including the 935/77 and 1998 LMP1 WSC Spyder of Le Mans 24 Hour fame.

Porsche Cars Australia’s Director or Marketing, Toni Andreevski, says there has been a lot of interest in the event and he is anticipating a large turnout of both competitors and spectators.

“The initial event in 2013 attracted a myriad of spectacular Porsches across Group S & N, Sports Cars, Regularity and Show ‘n’ Shine and we expect the very same this year,” said Mr Andreevski.

Popular Porsche enthusiast Magnus ‘urban outlaw’ Walker will be in attendance and will hit the track in a privately owned and modified early model 911. Walker is a colourful character and has developed a following thanks to his passion and enthusiasm for the brand. He has owned, raced and built more than 50 Porsche 911s.

The Porsche Rennsport Australia Motor Racing Festival is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1. Tickets start from $20 and are available at: www.porsche.com.au/rennsport2016 or at the gate.
