A new report from Roadshow suggests that the Tesla Model S will receive its first face-lift as early as this week. Inside sources told Roadshow that Tesla will be adding more luxury-oriented appointments, and that the automaker intends to simplify the car’s manufacturing process. However, the additional features could result in a higher price tag for the all-electric sedan. It’s unknown how much the car’s cost might increase.

One of the most likely changes to the Model S will be a new front fascia that will bring the car closer to the Model X and Model 3. Additional cosmetic changes expected for the car include new exterior colors and LED headlights. Inside, the Model S will gain a seat design similar to that of the Model X, with seat ventilation added as an option. Extra storage cubbies including door pockets are also expected to be added to the refreshed Model S.

Another report from The Verge suggests that a larger battery is on the way for the updated Model S sedan. Currently, the largest battery available is a 90-kWh lithium-ion unit, but a 100-kWh option could be in the cards as part of the refresh. The Model X’s “Bioweapon Defense Mode,” which is intended protect you against a biological attack by filtering the air coming into the car, is also expected to be offered on the refreshed Model S.

We reached out to Tesla for comment and are awaiting the company’s response.
