The 2016 Mercedes-Benz E Class continues to be a bad kept secret even though it finally undertook its official worldwide premiere in front of the audience during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Now the latest information to perspire is concerning the model’s pricing details. While no official confirmation has been given yet, the rumor mill has found out the all new executive sedan will kick off from $49,436 (€45,303) when considering the E 200 variant that comes packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. It also appears this one is being offered with the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and there’s no word out if the regular sox speed manual will be there as well. The predecessor’s E 200 base model can be had from $46,294 (€42,423) but it was equipped with the aforementioned six-speed manual stick. Running a quick comparison sees the all new E 200 with automatic a bit costlier than before – the difference is of $351 (€322).

The diesel range starts with the E 220d with the 9G-TRONIC at $51,424 (€47,124), with the E Class also offered as the E 350d from June starting at $60,675 (€55,602). The initial Mercedes-AMG variant will be the E 43 and this one will have 402 horsepower – there’s no word whether the automaker will reiterate the CNG versions. We’re expecting the future owners to eschew the base models as the top trims will boast interesting amenities such as the new steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, a Burmester 3D surround audio system, the Drive Pilot semi-autonomous, the Remote Parking Pilot system, etc.
