The rumor mill has again caught wind of some details concerning the arrival of two new Audi performance-oriented models – the TT RS and RS3 Sedan, which could be granted a completely new turbocharged 2.5-liter, five-cylinder engine.

According to the report authors, who quoted a “highly reliable source” from inside the company, Audi has already decided on the engine that will power up the TT RS and RS3 Sedan. This is an all new engine that has been developed from the scratch – meaning that apart from turbocharging and boasting the same displacement it will have nothing to do with the current turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder powerplant. The upcoming TT RS will be the first model to display it under the hood and the same report mentions the high-performance coupe will b showcased in a world premiere during the forthcoming Beijing Motor Show (Auto China 2016) which opens its gates on April 25. And there are hints the Euro-spec RS3 Sportback facelift will also make the jump to the new mill in the not so distant future.

Meanwhile the RS3 Sedan scheduled to make the trip to the United States next year as a 2018 model year will have the same motor unit and is tipped to boast around 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts). This falls in line with the previous reports and the high-performance compact sedan is also rumored to bring a dual-clutch, seven-speed automatic transmission to run the 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint in just four seconds.
