According to Nissan North America’s Vice President of Product Planning, the Sentra wile b offered in the US bundled with a new engine.

Michael Bunce commented “From a product standpoint, in the future you’ll see more engine offerings” and though the executive declined to go into specifics the news in indeed welcomed. Currently the Sentra is mated exclusively to a rather obsolete 1.8-liter four-cylinder churning out just 130 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. The Nissan North America’s Senior Manager of Product Planning also confirmed the Sentra could also be offered in a new body style – with the automaker actively mulling a hatchback version. Nissan has been delivering the Sentra in hatchback form a while back but the version was axed as American buyers seemed to care more for the sedan version.

Now the American market has once again warmed up to hatchbacks and the increasingly popular body style has been also noticed by Nissan – the second largest Japanese automaker said it would take a close look at the market evolution of the recently introduced second generation Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback prior to making a final decision if it would deliver its own rivaling Sentra hatchback. Nissan outed the official facelift of the Sentra model during the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, coming up with a fresh styling, an updated cabin and a modified suspension with sportier springs and dampers – pricing starts at $16,780.
