The fourth largest South Korean automobile manufacturer, currently controlled by India’s Mahindra, has announced the introduction of the 2016 Turismo. The model will be available to UK buyers starting at 18,995 pounds and delivers “seven adults in comfort together with their luggage” thanks to its massive length of more than five meters and 2+3+2 seat configuration on the inside. The cargo also has more than enough room to spare as it boasts a load carrying capacity of between 875 liters with seven seats to 3,146 liters when just two seats are used. Fresh for the 2016 model year the Tursimo (which is the second generation of the Rodius/Stavic – one of those ugly ducklings alongside the Pontiac Aztec and Fiat Multipla) is not an entirely new design (unfortunately) but an all new 2.2-liter Euro 6 diesel powerplant that churns out 178 HP (131 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque between 1,400 rpm and 2,800 rpm. CO2 emissions have been improved from 199 g/km on the previous 4×2 manual transmission model to 189 g/km, with fuel economy also up to 9.2 mpg (combined) compared to 37.2 mpg over the predecessor model with the older engine. The company has also sourced the well known 7-speed automatic gearbox from Mercedes-Benz and offers it as an optional extra. The standard transmission is a 6-speed manual mated to rear-wheel drive, with the flagship version ELX also boasting a selectable 4×4 with low ratio as standard equipment, Prices start at the aforementioned £18,995 level when choosing the entry-level SE and surge to £24,995 for the ELX 4×4 automatic.
