The US unit of British manufacturer Mini – owned by Germany’s BMW AG – has decided that a new special edition is in order and proceeded to introduce the Cooper S Carbon Edition. The new limited series has been priced from $36,250 and comes packing the John Cooper Works Pro Tuning Kit that delivers the power jump from the regular 189 HP (139 kW) to 208 HP (153 kW) and also comes with “superb responsiveness” due to the lowered reduced exhaust gas back pressure and an engine software tweak. The US division has also tapped the JCW valve exhaust system that comes in two different standard settings – Track and Sport – with control done remotely via a Bluetooth controller. The former is naturally only suited for circuit use and will come with “maximum emotional sound”, while the Sport mode appears to be the legal choice and will deliver “significantly sportier and more emotional” sound than what is coming from a regular Cooper S. The exterior has also been treated to the Midnight Black metallic hue and also includes matte black stripes, carbon fiber mirror caps, air intake trim and tailpipe finishers. On top of that has been added the JCW Exterior Package with rear spoiler and 17-inch JCW Track Spoke Black wheels. Cabin amenities include an 8.8-inch high-resolution screen complete with GPS system and enhanced Bluetooth and audio streaming. Other interior goodies include the JCW steering wheel, a sunroof, heated sports seats, center armrest and the Harman/Kardon premium sound system. Prices start at $36,250 for the stick version and jump to 37,750 USD when choosing the automatic transmission.
