You might not think of an F1 legend in association with the new Renault Talisman, but the four-time Formula 1 champion decided to take the French car for a ride and ended up impressed with its dynamics. Prost can be seen in the video below as he enters the car for the first time, saying the model is spacious and comfortable, spotting that the steering is quite responsive for a large car. The most important part of the test drive was the Talisman’s four-wheel steering system named 4Control, which Alain Prost has praised before and was left impressed after taking the car for a ride. With Prost being a Renault brand ambassador, we cannot expect the video to be objective or to be viewed as a comprehensive review. However, the competition in the non-premium mid-size car segment is high, so each brand has to pull off their magic tricks to gain the upper hand. You can decide for yourself if the Renault Talisman is better than the Volkswagen Passat, Ford Mondeo or the Mazda6. The brand new Renault Talisman debuted at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in two body styles – sedan and estate, and it was produced as a replacement for the Laguna and Latitude models. The cabin of the car brings a 4.2-inch display for the infotainment system but the more expensive variants are bringing the R-Link 2 infotainment system with a larger 8.7-inch display, along with a 13-speaker surround sound system which has been signed by Bose. The engine lineup of the two vehicles is being shared and it includes the TCe 150 and the TCe 200 turbocharged gasoline burners, added to the dCi 110, dCi 130 and dCi 160 HP. Transmission options include the six-speed manual and the optional EDC dual-clutch, available for the TCe 200 and the dCi 130, while the dCi 160 will get a six-speed dual-clutch. The new Renault Talisman will be offered for sale in Europe in the first half of 2016 and its starting price is of around $30,348 on its local market.
