The updated version of the Mercedes-Benz SL has been caught on camera while being tested out. This is not your ordinary spy video, in which the two-door midsized roadster is being driven fast on the Nurburgring and on any other track and it is showing a pre-production car cruising the busy streets of a German city. You can notice the camouflaged front fascia and the slightly hidden rear end, which are suggesting upgrades made to the lighting units, to the front and rear bumpers and, perhaps, to some panels. The model is believed to get a slightly modified cabin as well, along with engine revisions and new options for the wheels. The new bonnet and front grille are also expected to be added, while the Multibeam LED technology will be adopted as well. The thinner taillights are visible, along with the redesigned exhaust tips. The COMAND multimedia system will be tweaked too. The Mercedes-Benz SL is no longer the flagship sports car offered by the 3-pointed star as the AMG GT was introduced. The model has been in production, in its current form, since 2012. It’s known as the R231 and it stands at 4,612 mm long, 1,877 mm wide and 1,315 mm tall. The vehicle has a 3.5 liter V6 engine under its hood, with 302 HP, a 4.7 liter turbo with 430 HP and a 5.5 liter V8 with 529 HP. The 6.0l V12 turbo producing 621 HP is being used in the AMG variant.
