A new video with the Ferrari 488 Spider is showing us some factory footage with the newest convertible born in Maranello, the 488 Spider. Ferrari is focusing on the bodywork of the new 488 Spider in its newest video. The clip is depicting part of the assembly process of the impressive rear mid-engined and rear-wheel drive supercar and it basically looks like a short episode of Megafactories. The carmaker says that the model has a spaceframe chassis made from 11 different aluminum alloys and other metals like the magnesium which are being combined in a special way. Compared to its predecessor, the 458 Spider, the 488 is offering a 23 percent chassis improvement as well. The Ferrari 488 Spider has been shown earlier this summer, in an online unveil. Its public debut was made during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and it is replacing the old 458 Spider. The supercar is following the same steps as the 488 GTB and it is also offering the new 3.9 liter twin turbo V8 engine under its hood, producing a total of 670 HP (492 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 760 Nm (560 lb-ft) of torque, available at 3,000 rpm. This is replacing the 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 unit from the 458 series. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration is made in just 3 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph), the model needs 8.7 seconds. Its retractable hard top can fold back into two overlapping sections in approximately 14 seconds.
