A new drag race between the McLaren 650S Spider and the Ferrari 458 Spider is showing us the supremacy of turbocharged engines. Purists will always go for a naturally aspirated supercar but the truth is that turbocharging is bringing a lot for less. This is a lesson the driver of this Ferrari 458 Spider has learned the hard way after drag racing a newer McLaren 650S Spider. If you don’t believe us that there is a huge difference in performance between the two, scroll down and click the play button to see them in action. And if you thought that the Ferrari didn’t stand a chance at all, you should know that this has been slightly updated and it is more powerful than the stock one. The Ferrari 458 Spider has left the production line earlier this year in order to make room for its successor, the 488 GTB. The supercar has a 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine under its hood, which is good for 562 HP (419 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint takes 3.0 seconds and top speed stands at 340 km/h (210 mph). The McLaren 650S on the other hand has replaced the MP4-12C and it has a 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine. This is producing 641 HP (478 kW) and 680 Nm (500 lb-ft) of torque. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), this also needs 3.0s and top speed is 333 km/h (207 mph).
