Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda confirm recall of 91,000 cars in Australia 9 October 2015 by Joshua Dowling · CarsGuide It has taken three long weeks but a recall has been formally issued for 91,000 cars with dodgy diesels.Embattled German car maker Volkswagen has formally announced a recall of 91,000 VW, Audi and Skoda cars with dodgy diesels that can cheat emissions tests. The statement comes after the company finally revealed two days ago how many cars are caught up in the global scandal that affects 11 million cars globally. Volkswagen says Australia is one of the first countries in the world to take this formal action. "Australian authorities have been advised of this action and (the Volkswagen Group) will continue to work closely with them as it awaits further information from the head office of Volkswagen," a statement from VW said. The company will write to all affected customers to advise them "of the next steps in the process and keep them updated"."Until a technical solution is made available by Volkswagen’s head office, customers do not need to take any further action," the company said. "(Volkswagen Group) understands that this has been a difficult time and apologises for any disappointment and inconvenience felt by our customers, staff, dealers and partners."“I want to assure all customers that the affected cars are technically safe and the necessary measures will be undertaken at no cost to them,” said John White, managing director of VW Australia. “We will do everything we can to fix this problem and regain the trust of our customers.”Volkswagen and ŠKODA customers who would like to find out if their vehicle is affected can enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) via a link on the relevant brand websites.
