When Ford unveiled the new Ford GT supercar in Detroit, fans went crazy. Not since the original GT homage in 2005 has there been an American car on so many kid’s room wall posters around the world as the new 2017 Ford GT. Now, to the joy of many Ford and racing fans, Ford released a new 360-degree video of one lap of Silverstone mid-race inside the Ford GT race car.

Like the wonderful 360-degree video of Stirling Moss behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, the Ford video is set on the inside of a race-spec GT cockpit. The viewer can click and drag the camera view around the cabin, with a full view of the barren interior.

On the inside, we see all of the technical bits that make the car perform as intended. Turn the camera 180-degrees to look at the rear firewall in the interior, and the viewer is privy to an organized and cleanly laid-out nest of wires, boxes, and fuses sitting where a passenger seat would be.

If you want, you can watch the driver the entire time, and observe the steering and shift inputs as he drives around Silverstone. If you keep the view pointed through the windshield, we are treated to a brutal example of the differences in speed between the LM GTE class, in which the Ford GT competes, and the LMP1 category, which blast by the GT with impunity. Toward the end of the video, it is clear why Ford chose this particular lap of Silverstone to highlight, as the Ford blitzes by a bright yellow Corvette.
