Reports says that former Ferrari F1 team boss will become CEO at Lamborghini, as the current SantAgata Bolognese head will join Audi’s Quattro division. According to the Italian publication Gazetta dello Sport, the former Ferrari’s Sports Director Stefano Domenicali is likely to become the new Managing Director of Lamborghini. He will replace Stephan Winkelmann, who was in charge of the Italian sports car manufacturer for a decade. Rumors say Winkelmann will be offered the lead of Audi’s Quattro division. Domenicali, 50, recently told the well-known Ferrari insider Leo Turrini, “Do I miss Formula One? Yes, a little. That’s inevitable. I thought I could do more (in F1), but I have no regrets,” he is quoted as saying by Speed Week. Stefano Domenicali led Ferrari’s Formula One team between 2007 – replacing Jean Todt – and 2014, when he resigned because of the poor results at Scuderia. He is already employed by the VW Group, as he joined Audi in October 2014. If Winkelmann makes the move, its supercar experience will definitely benefit the Quattro division, as the Neckarsulm-based company produces relatively high-end, niche versions of Audi models.
