Aston Martin Virage Lagonda
Introduced in 1993, the limited edition Lagonda came in two flavours, a four-door sedan and a five-door wagon (shooting break), both based on the two-door Virage. It was available with two engines, a 6.3 litre V8 pumping out 500 horsepower and a more docile 310 horsepower 5.3 litre unit borrowed from the Virage. Four transmission options were also available, ranging from a 3 and 4-speed automatic to a 5 and 6-speed manual. Drilled and ventilated disc brakes as well as ABS assist in slowing down the 4500 lb beast. The impressive 5 second 0-60 mph time is sure to keep the kids pinned to their back-rests and is made possible by the 500 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque available from the top of the line engine. The fun continues to 170 mph or over 270 km/h. Also equipped with rear facing child seats in the luggage compartment, the Lagonda shooting break has enough room for 7 passengers making it decisively the most practical
Aston Martin ever. The only difficulty might be actually finding one, as only four of the saloon and four of the shooting break were ever built by the
Aston Martin Factory Service Department, making this one of the rarest of the world's fastest sedans. - by Traian Popescu
