Audi S6 / S6 Avant (1999)

Cars within the Audi lineup wearing "S" badges are instantly recognizable as high performance automobiles with high engine output, permanent all-wheel drive, supreme road presence and elegant, sporting style. The S6 and S6 Avant are no different. The 5 valve/cylinder dohc V8 engine provides 340 horsepower at 7000 rpm and 310 lb-ft of torque at 3400 rpm, 221 of which are available at idle. The S6 also includes a 5-speed Tiptronic transmission or a six speed manual, special exhaust system, 10mm lower body, aluminum hood and front side panels, aluminum sub frames and 255/40 ZR tires riding on 17" cast aluminum wheels.

The ABS anti-lock braking system, the tandem brake servo and ventilated disc brakes with aluminium calipers on all wheels ensure that the car can be braked and brought to a halt very reliably. Additional safety is provided by the ESP electronic stability program, which includes the EDL electronic differential lock, the EBD electronic brake-force distribution system and the ASR traction control system. With the SIDEGUARD system, the airbag total of the S6 numbers 8, dual front airbags, side front and back airbags and 2 head level airbags. If you're still not satisfied with the S6, take a look at its performance numbers, 0-62 mph takes a mere 5.7 seconds for the sedan with the wagon only a tick behind, with the 124mph mark (200kmph) passing in 21.7 seconds. Prices are listed for both sedan and Avant. - by Traian Popescu
