In 2002, Bentley renamed the Red Label as simply the R, to
contrast with the higher performing T. This model received a highly reworked
version of the 6.75L V8 of the Red Label, which included a new engine management
system and two small Garrett T3 turbochargers replacing the single large T4 for better emissions controls. In
2005 the R received the same odd exterior revisions as the T (not pictured above), reflecting the
current design trend of the Continental GT. In step with the T again, for 2007
the R also received a significant power upgrade, while retaining the 6.75L OHV
layout of old, plus a 6-speed ZF transmission to replace the old 4-speed unit.
Although for outright bling, the Arnage has long been superseded by the ‘Bachs
and Spurs of this world, for real olde worlde motoring and a truly unique driving
experience, the Arnage is still the one to have. - by Traian Popescu
