Bentley Continental Flying Spur (2006)

A brand-new Bentley four-door limousine for $160K?! It's time to go car shopping!

This four-door Continental Flying Spur shares much with the two-door GT, including its Quattro-derived AWD system, 6.0-litre W12 engine, 6-speed automatic gearbox and interior furnishings. 552 is still the magic number here, but the nicest thing about this engine is that, true to Bentley form, it rides a mile-high wave of torque all the way from idle - peak is at 1600rpm. Unfortunately, nearly 5500lb saddled to the mighty W12 means that the Flying Spur, like the GT, is no sprinter. It does, however, have immensely long legs: a 195mph top speed is only 3 shy of the coupe, making this the fastest production sedan in the world (as of its introduction in 2006)! What more appropriate designation among the world's fastest sedans! Another superlative is the 405mm ventilated front brake discs - the largest on any production car currently on sale, save the GT.

The interior is practically identical to that of the Continental GT, which in turn shares quite a bit with the VW Phaeton. It doesn't have the bespoke look of the Arnage, but if this seems disappointing, the fit and quality of every trim piece and hide is absolutely flawless and every comfort you could ever want is at your fingertips. Plus now there is actually leg and head room in the back, which is a welcome addition. Finally, only 160 grand gets you into this exclusive club, so if you too have been waiting for a cut-price entry this is the moment to act. - by Traian Popescu
