No Mugsy I don agree about it being the best. Acar liket he bugatti EB 118, even tho it is still a concept, would have something for everyone in my mind (except cargo and stupid SUB features) cause it has the sport, luxo and better liveability (you could actually get in it like a normal car) than say the VEyron of chiron.------------------ Porsche lover down to the golf clubs. This the first time you've shot yourself, Terry? (Don't answer that). The Cayenne will probably cost almost as much as a Range Rover - certainly more than a BMW X5. It won't at all be cheap. ------------------

Is it going to be that long? Hmm, I thought it would be arriving sooner than that.I don't like the concept pictures that I have seen so far. The front looks the opposite of evolutionary when compared to the 911 Turbo and current 996s, IMO. Unlike the BMW X5, it is very low and long, almost like a station wagon (or, as the European residents prefer to call it, an ESTATE). One thing we can all be sure of - it will be exclusive. This won't be any old suburban soccer-mom SUV; it will probably be a very rare sighting, less common than a Boxster. ------------------

I think the Cayenne goes on sale in early 2002, or barring that, summer 2002.(Know what's bizarre? The French call their wagons "breaks"; which, I suspect, is why Aston Martin always badges their estates "Shooting Brakes"). ------------------

Porsche would want to get the Cayenne into showrooms asap, before everyone gets an X5.------------------ ICQ# 111706780 IP: Logged |

I suspect both the message and the photo are fakes - Porsche USA personnel are much more articulate (I trust). Conveniently, just this week, Brenda Priddy released some information about the successor to the 928. If you want to check it out, it's over at the Car Connection site.Apparently, Porsche has two projects in the works for 2004/2005, but only one will get the green light. Either way it will use the new V8 from the Cayenne. 1) a 2+2 GT, like the old 928; front-engined or, 2) a performance sedan, with a notchback fifth door I'm betting Porsche won't go with the sedan because they already know they're pushing it with the Cayenne. I remember 10 years ago when they came very close to releasing a sedan, but changed their minds. The test mule I saw in CAR AND DRIVER looked like a 928 with 2 extra doors.
But that was then, this is now ... ------------------
