i would agree, a GT seems to make more sensce for porsceh than a sedan and i think they know that having an SUV is already lowered the company name enough.

I think the pic looks good, and I like the 2+2 configuration. I would actually like to have this, and with a V8 it would sound cool too(not that the flat-six doesn't). I don't know if they would go V8 though, that is not Porsche heritage.

I agree with Kigfisher. Those were merely rumours from a forum. The reason why I posted them was that the idea seemed interesting and I wanted feedback from you guys. I think the sedan, if rear-engined, would be a good idea!

are there any rear engined sedans now? also, that pic of the coupe loooks like they just took a part of the headlight and added it inside of the real one.

Not to my knowledge. My uncle had a rusty rear-engined VW 4-door large sedan in his scrap yard. even though the engine wasn't in it, and it became Bruno's (his dog) hangout spot, it did look increadibly intersting to me. It was, say, Camry sized.

The last rear-engined sedan was built by Tatra, ceasing production in 1996. Ironically, it used a Porsche engine.

Tatra (it's a Czech company with a long history) only builds trucks now.

Umm, I don't know, its ok, maybe if I saw pictures of it more often it would grow on me. It's ok, but I like SUV that are more Off-road capable- like older Suburbans and Blazer- SUV's you can put e35in. tires and rachero shocks and lift kits on and they still look good. Its ok looking but if I'm going to spend that much money on an SUV I'll buy something worth it and that I don't mind scratching up or denting while I'm playing offroad while taking my friends with me.

If you have that much money for an suv then id think youd have the money to mend its wounds from the off road.

I think the guys at Porsche are really brave to be doing this, bringing an SUV into the stportcar world of Porsche. I, personally, am very excited, but, I'd really like to look at the PRICE of this thing. On the looks, it's not too bad, just think of it as a 911 with 20" rims, and 10x t he cargo and passenger space. One word "Big 911"

i want to see a definitive pic. i have seen some that look pretty good like the one in alex's article but there are others that are grossly unproportional.

porsche could blow it big time or make it big time with the suv. some photos i've seen are down right aweful, but some, eg roadfly look reasonably tough. which in the end is what it must look like. tough!!!

I don't think Porsche has been as good as other manufacturers when it comes to keeping their concepts secret. From what I've seen of the Cayenne, it looks like a big fat cousin of a Boxster.

You know I am a real Porsche purist. But it's hard to say. I mean an 4X4 with a twin turboed V8 pumping 450 horse I mean this thing is going to be an animal I can't wait to see it and the specs on it. But at the same time porsche has always been a top maket sports car.
But when it comes down to is I say make this thing is sweet.
