Renault is set to impress us once again with a 1.5lt 300hp Coupe directly derived from their upcoming F1 car! Read the story here: http://www.fantasycars.com/1/News/RenaultCoupe/renaultcoupe.html And then voice your opinion about it. How does 300hp from 1.5 litres sound? Why not? F1 engines produces around 800hp from 3 litres. But then the rev would have to do up to 17,000rpm! If this coupe really make it into production, the fuel consumption would be really bad and what about the reliability?300hp from a normally aspirated engine-possible. But in production-I have doubts. ------------------ rosruc@yahoo.com IP: Logged |

I like beavers too but i dont think it could consistantly keep 300 horses at only 1.5lt.

I find it pretty unlikely that they'd use an F1 engine. The manufacture of F1 engines is a closely guarded secret, and if rival teams can find out the block's dimensions it may give them an edge.To answer the power enquiry, in the early eighties BMW released a 2.0L 4-cylinder F1 engine that produced 700hp without turbochargers.
