Hmm, looks a lot like a facelifted TT from the front. Still, it is a very BMW-ish automobile, and I think I will enjoy seeing it when it hits the roads. This is my first attempt at including a quote in my reply, so bear with me if it doesn't work.... ------------------

I like the back, and don't mind the front. I still won't buy one, but it's a nice car.------------------ My Car Dealership: http://www.geocities.com/blackta00 '93 Camaro Z28 A4: CAI TB Bypass Exhaust & Cutout Coming Soon 1/4 mile 14.106/98.19 For sale-$8,000 '92 VW Corrado VR6: EIP Intake Manifold Neuspeed P-chip Neuspeed Intake Eibach Springs Konig Monsoons 17" Custom Exhaust Stage III Clutch For sale-$10,000 IP: Logged |

In my opinion, the new Z3 is an excellent evolution of the original design. It incorporates elements such as the broader grille and more angluar headlights of the Z9 Concept, the side vents of the Z8 on the side of the hood, and a rear end that can be traced directly back to the X Coupe of Detroit while still keeping a strong resemblance to the original Z3. The sharply creased wheel arches are a nice new touch, as well, probably traceable back to the X Coupe's "flame surfacing." Overall, I only have a few quibbles with the design. First, the tailights are a radical departure from BMW tradition. While they do a nice job of mirroring the twin lenses up front, the matte plastic surrounds and brightwork around the lights seems to make them seem a little out of place on the rounded rear end of the car. Second, the seam of the hood travels straight across the hood from the headlights rather than sweeping underneath the grill, as is BMW custom. The harsh line created by this clashes fiercely with the lines of the hood and sides, breaking up an otherwise sleek design. I can understand this decision, however, from a front-impact standpoint. By distancing the front of the hood from the bumper, the chance that the hood will be damaged in a low-speed collision is reduced, cutting down on the amount of body panels needing repair. In summation, good job BMW, just work on the tailights and hood a little.------------------

I like the design, but i am more comfortable with the design of the s2k. and also, i dont htink the handling will be up to the s2k but may be close, so if the 2l can get 7 or under to 60 i think that you would have a better comparison. Overall, i like it much better thean the old one. But I dont believe it wyoud be up to a new boxster (no such thing, dont spread rumors), which realyy needs a replacment by now.------------------ Porsche lover down to the golf clubs. IP: Logged |

The Z3 DOES need replacing. Right now, it's about the oldest car in the BMW line-up, and it shows. It's still a good car, though.------------------

Being a Mercedes-Benz faithful, you have to not like BMW. This new Z3 though, is actually good looking. The X coupe end treatment works and it's just nice to see that BMW is catching up. ------------------

Does anyone know if this new Z3 will appear for sale in the US as a 2002 model, or we will have to wait till 2003, as usually is the case when compared to Europe? I hope that it will appear in 2002 because my lease expires in April of 2002, so I could actually get this one... Yup, you guessed it, I like it! IP: Logged |
