We have done some research on current information regarding the upcoming 2004 Merc SLK. Take a look here: http://www.fantasycars.com/1/2001/SLK2004/slk2004.html And then give your thoughts! [This message has been edited by alex (edited April 16, 2001).] IP: Logged |

Mercedes needs to be careful here. They might wind up cannibalizing sales of the next SL if it's too powerful or luxurious.------------------

I like it but I dont think that mercedes should copy there own car that much unless its sopposed to be a down sized SLR.------------------ IP: Logged |

I think it looks too SLR. And we have to wait that long??? Darn. The current SLK's are starting to look VERY outdated, in performance as well as design. I would like to see those 0-60s brought down into the five-second range, and then it would be a veritable competitor for the Porsche Boxster and Honda S2000.------------------

It definately has features of the SLR, and they shouldn't be doing that. They need to redesign the car, not steal styling cues from their other cars.------------------ My Car Dealership: http://www.geocities.com/blackta00 '93 Camaro Z28 A4: CAI TB Bypass Exhaust & Cutout Coming Soon 1/4 mile 14.106/98.19 For sale-$8,000 '92 VW Corrado VR6: EIP Intake Manifold Neuspeed P-chip Neuspeed Intake Eibach Springs Konig Monsoons 17" Custom Exhaust Stage III Clutch For sale-$10,000 IP: Logged |

i like its looks, although if they want it to look like a mini SLR, it will have to go like one.------------------ ICQ# 111706780 IP: Logged |

looking like a mini slr will boost its sales if the slr cojes out but may make the slr look worse to millionair buyers. i think the F1 car looks should only be in supercars also.------------------ Porsche lover down to the golf clubs. IP: Logged |

I honestly hate the looks of the new SLK. While it may be a downsized clone of the absolutely gorgeous SLR, the F1-inspired styling doesn't translate to the smaller size well. What looks elegant and sleek on the SLR looks like an automotive version of Cyrano de Bergerac on the SLK. If Mercedes is looking to compete with the likes of the TT, new Z3, S2000, and Boxster, they're going to have to pull some pretty serious performance out of their hat in order to level the playing field.------------------

How GM expected to make a profit off of Azteks is unknown to me. I've seen dozens rotting on dealer's lots, no one even LOOKING at them, and then maybe, oh, two on the road in the last three months. People aren't willing to see past the looks and appreciate the practicalities. The garbage-truck rear end has to go. I think that's the worst aspect of the Aztek's styling cues. ------------------ IP: Logged |
