Yes we really like what the MG guys have been up to lately. Take a look here for more info: http://www.fantasycars.com/1/2001/MGSupercar/mgsupercar.html and then let's talk on whether MG is back on track! [This message has been edited by alex (edited July 05, 2001).] IP: Logged |

The 500 and X80 both look pretty good. MG has gotten serious in a hurry. I think the Mangusta is ugly and the Cobra and Esperante are better buys, but good for MG.------------------ IP: Logged |

At this rate, I can see only success for MG Rover. AUTO EXPRESS had a little news bite about the X80, and - correct me if I'm wrong - they were mentioning a 500 bhp figure. And isn't Lola helping with this car too?People over here haven't forgotten the MG name, so the sooner they return, the better. ------------------

I dont know. The news is too big, too soon. We've heard so many big things, but at the end of the day, its about what they make. I am still skeptical about this new company. They are going to have to spend billions to get MG and Rover to what they say they are going to.------------------ Women are important, very important... but my Guru once told me that cherish what you will have for life... Mr. Towers and co. do seem to be smart businessmen, though, so they have experience and corporate savvy on their side. The Qvale deal is smart and inexpensive. But I keep having to remind myself that they only intend to get MG Rover into good enough shape to SELL to another company. They don't intend to go on as an independent forever. ------------------

I did not know that they did not intend to remain independent. That is news to me. It is going to be one helluva task, but if I were them, I would keep it running if I restored it. Anyway, lets hope the best for the British Auto Industry.------------------ Women are important, very important... but my Guru once told me that cherish what you will have for life... I like what MG is doing now. I've always like the MGA and MGB and they're making a comeback. Well good for them, can't wait for tht first jaw-dropping moment when you first see a new car in person. ------------------ "The Only Sports Car That Matters" Corvette Trivia "I've been drivin' all night, my hands wet on the wheel, and this voice in my head that drives my heel, my babys callin say she need me here, and it a half past four and I'm shiftin' gears" IP: Logged |

Just read some interesting news in the SUNDAY TIMES - there was a link in the news ticker. It stated that MG Rover has had talks to buy Lotus from Proton. They said the rumoured price was £50 million. Negotiations that would have Proton buy a stake in MG Rover are on-going. Mr. Towers and Mr. Howe also hope to convince Proton to co-operate on replacements for the 45 and 25. They are also wooing venture capitalists into investing as well - which is where the cash for the Lotus purchase would come from. ------------------

I think that the new MG's well be a lot of fun to drive with, but it's a shame that they didn't build new cars that they just took the rovers. OK the Rover 75 is a really cool car But MG has to build an open sportscar, like they always have done------------------ Ferrari will stay on top forever www.ferrariphoto.f2s.com [This message has been edited by DJ Dirk (edited September 04, 2001).] IP: Logged |

i would think lotus would sell for much more but i guess that is how much a small volume sports car company sells for. anyways, MG is turning back into a great automobile manafacturer.------------------ Porsche lover down to the golf clubs.
