Wow! What do you think of the R Coupe:
http://www.fantasycars.com/1/2001/JaguarR/jaguarr.html

And the questions are:
Do you like it?
Should Jaguar produce it?

(well these are the questions for every new concept car but I don't know this Jag just looks sooooo special!

It has a very cool vintage look, but I would be very surprised if we ever see this on the road. I think they should make it, but of course in very small production #'s. It would cool to see this car with a V12 or the supercharged V8.

Does it get any better than this? 0-60 in 3.6 top speed 205mph, and built in 1989.

It's stunning! TopGear (magazine) arrived today, and it's got the full blown article on it with massive pictures. Oh it's gorgeous. They've got to make it.

Jaguar has stated specifically that it will NOT make this car, no matter what. It is just a styling cue

Oh pooh. The X-Type was here right away, but for beauties like this and the F-Type, we'll either have to wait several years, or they'll never be made at all. (Puts on British accent) Is it too radical for U.K. roads? Will it shatter the oh-so-fragile tradition Jaguar is so attached to?

0-60 in 3.8 seconds. A top speed of 214 mph. Fear me.

The answer? We already get the F-type and thirteen other models or model changes from Jaguar till the year 2004. I'd say they've got their hands full. And remember that we already have the XK8/XKR. But perhaps one of those new models incorporates a lot of the styling of this car. Ford has big plans for Jaguar and Aston Martin

Have now read the full TopGear report on the car, and realise that they have categorically stated that this is a concept only. However the car incorporates lots of different ideas the design team - lead by Julian Thomson - have had. Little details seen in this car, such as the union jack vents and the extra thin fog lights, will probably be seen on production cars quite soon.
Siobhan Hughes, the cars interior designer, look at ceramic and even stone (honest) before settling on wood. But not just any old wood - a very exotic Italian sourced ebony that would work out at around £20,000 a tree!
All the silver on the outside is solid, and concept car has fully functioning switch gear and engine. This is a car packed with future ideas.

I like this car. I can see Jaguar is definitely aiming at a more traditional, almost 1950s look.

However, I can't ever see them putting it into production. It covers the same territory as the XK8. If, perhaps, the next XK was moved to a more sporting direction, I could imagine the R-Coupe hitting the roads as an alternative to the CLK or CL-Class.

Doesn't match the XK180, I say.

Ah, the XK180, arguably the finest concept car I've seen in years. Boy was I disappointed when I heard this 450 bhp wasn't given a real birth. I hope the F-Type or Aston Martin AM 305 come off looking that stunning.
